Senior Network Observability Engineer

FinXL IT Professional Services is an established innovative Australian company providing technology enabled business solutions and consulting services across a number of industries including Telecommunications, Commercial, Government and Finance.

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Network Observability Engineer to join a large-scale enterprise telecommunications environment. You'll design, build and improve observability solutions that turn complex network telemetry into actionable insights, helping teams detect issues earlier, troubleshoot faster and improve network performance.

This is a technical engineering role suited to someone who enjoys working directly with monitoring platforms, building Grafana dashboards, analysing network data and developing observability solutions - not just managing or using existing tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain monitoring and observability solutions across complex network environments.
• Develop reusable Grafana dashboards, visualisations, metrics and alerts.
• Work hands-on with Prometheus, ELK/OpenSearch and Kibana to improve monitoring and logging.
• Analyse network telemetry, time-series data and operational logs to identify trends and performance issues.
• Develop and troubleshoot data pipelines and streaming integrations, including Kafka.
• Use Python and SQL for data processing, analysis and automation.
• Collaborate with platform engineering, SRE, DevOps and network operations teams to improve visibility and reduce incident detection and resolution times.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

• Proven hands-on experience building and maintaining enterprise observability solutions.
• Strong Grafana experience, including dashboard development and data source integration.
• Experience with Prometheus and logging platforms such as ELK, OpenSearch or Kibana.
• Strong SQL and data analysis skills; Python experience is highly regarded.
• Exposure to Kafka, streaming data pipelines and time-series data.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.

Telecommunications, network operations, service assurance or SRE experience is highly desire

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with practical experience building, configuring and troubleshooting observability solutions, dashboards and data pipelines in complex environments.
