An employer is seeking a Junior Data Engineer to join their team and contribute to building internal data platforms.
- Develop and maintain Python codebases and databases for data ingestion, cleaning, validation, and reconciliation.
- Build REST APIs to form the foundation of an internal platform.
- Investigate data inconsistencies, establish validation rules, and create trusted datasets.
- Automate manual tasks for data collection, checking, reporting, and document generation.
- Create dashboards, reports, alerts, and internal tools for various business functions.
- Develop document extraction, retrieval, and LLM-based workflows, including testing and review mechanisms.
- A rigorous degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Strong programming fundamentals in Python, TypeScript, and SQL, demonstrated through practical work or projects.
- Understanding of relational databases, data modeling, APIs, and ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Demonstrated care for clean code, testing, debugging, version control, and building reliable production systems.
- Ability to trace complex data issues, identify root causes, and verify solutions.
- Commercial mindset with an eagerness to build and scale a platform.
- Salary of £40,000 – £60,000 per year, depending on experience.
- Full-time, permanent position.
