Software Engineer (Weather Monitoring)

Join Waymo, a leader in autonomous driving technology, as a Software Engineer focused on weather monitoring. In this role, you will develop, test, and deploy features for Waymo's next-generation offboard weather systems and infrastructure. You will implement and maintain scalable data pipelines for weather data ingestion, processing, and storage, and contribute to the development and enhancement of real-time and forecasting weather applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering partners to deliver reliable, high-quality software solutions and ensure high performance, code health, and stability for systems vital to safe fleet operations in diverse weather environments.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- Strong foundation in computer science (data structures, algorithms, distributed systems)
- 4+ years of experience programming in backend coding languages
- Excellent collaboration skills to work with cross-functional partners
- Experience in C++
- Familiarity with Google infrastructure (e.g. Flume, Borg, Protocol Buffers, OnePlatform)
- Experience with payments, billing, or fintech systems where correctness is non-negotiable
