About The Role
Northrop Grumman's Space Systems Sector is seeking an experienced Principal or Senior Principal DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role can be based in Aurora, Colorado; Morrisville, North Carolina; or Sacramento, California. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced DevOps processes and infrastructure to support rapid capability development and deployment for highly sensitive programs. You will be responsible for integrating automation within development pipelines, ensuring high standards of security, reliability, and scalability. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects supporting national security and space exploration initiatives, contributing to the development of systems that have a lasting impact on the future.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate must possess an active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI access. A U.S. citizenship is mandatory. The candidate should also have an active CI Polygraph at the time of application. Educational requirements include a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience for Principal level, or 8 years for Senior Principal, with additional experience in lieu of a degree as applicable. Proven expertise in AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform is essential. Candidates should have experience with Linux or similar operating systems, along with a solid understanding of Agile software development methodologies. Security+ certification or the ability to obtain it within six months is required. Additional preferred qualifications include experience with Flux, Helm, DynamoDB, NATS, Grafana, Prometheus, Jenkins, GitLab, or Bamboo, as well as strong problem-solving and scripting skills.
Responsibilities
- Plan and evolve processes and infrastructure to support rapid program capability maturation and deployment.
- Integrate development pipelines leveraging automation, test-driven development tools, and continuous integration/test frameworks.
- Define and implement standards for build, deployment, provisioning, and monitoring across projects.
- Ensure compliance with Software Configuration Management (SCM), code quality, and automated testing standards within CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate with Agile development teams to deliver end-to-end automation of deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management frameworks.
- Build and configure delivery environments supporting CI/CD tools following Agile methodologies.
- Create scripts and templates to automate infrastructure provisioning and management tasks.
- Work closely with development teams and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve system issues promptly.
- Monitor and support all installed systems and infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Develop custom scripts to enhance system efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of information and operational support systems.
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
- Oversee security, backup, and redundancy strategies to ensure data integrity and system resilience.
- Evaluate application performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions in collaboration with developers.
