Join Mastercard as a Principal Software Engineer, where you will work closely with platform architects to drive the technical vision and translate it into actionable direction for development teams. You will create solutions that support different products while maintaining the overall health of the platform. Additionally, you will plan, design, and develop technical solutions to meet business requirements, drive Proofs of Concept, and conduct knowledge-sharing sessions on new and emerging technologies. You will also define and evolve platform architecture, drive technical strategy, and ensure architectural consistency across products and engineering teams.

- Strong understanding of key concepts, principles, and best practices for Java and cloud-based application development, including technologies such as PCF, Kubernetes, and AWS

- Strong verbal and written communication skills, alongside excellent relationship-building, collaboration, and organisational skills
- Strong knowledge of cloud-native architecture concepts, including high availability, scalability, resilience, performance, and security requirements
- High-energy, detail-oriented, and proactive, with the ability to work effectively under pressure in an independent environment
- Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging technologies such as Kafka, MQ, and modern streaming platforms
- Experience working with high-volume platforms
- Experience in the design and development of complex, multi-tier, cloud-native architectures
- Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, along with familiarity with NoSQL databases
- Hands-on experience with rules-based systems and web-based applications, with previous experience as an Architect or Tech Lead
- Experience with distributed systems, microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, and cloud-native platforms such as Kubernetes and AWS
- A quick learner with the ability to drive complex technical solutions
- A high degree of initiative and self-motivation, with the ability to drive results
- Strong understanding of observability, resiliency, operational excellence, and security-by-design principles for mission-critical platforms
- Ability to performance-tune high-volume SQL
- Experience with rules-based applications, such as IBM ODM
- Knowledge of networking concepts, including F5, DNS, and related technologies
