Backend Software Engineer (Python focus) to join our team full-time in Poland.

With almost 100 million active users across 25 countries, they’re a global food tech company.
The client’s Information Security organization protects a technology-led, cloud-native platform serving millions of customers across multiple markets. The client is building security into the foundations of how they design, engineer, and operate their cloud-native platforms at scale, across the client's technology organisation.
Unlike traditional infrastructure-only roles, this position sits at the intersection of production software development and application security. You will write code, build security guardrails directly into backend application services, review code for vulnerabilities, and automate security checks across high-velocity deployment pipelines shipping code over 100 times daily.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deploy software-level security controls, API defenses, and AI guardrails to protect customer-facing products
- Perform line-by-line secure code reviews, run application vulnerability scans, network testing, and password audits to fix flaws before deployment
- Automate security processes, embedding compliance and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) checks directly into CI/CD pipelines
- Conduct risk audits, monitor system access logs for anomalies, and translate security findings into clear, practical engineering recommendations
- Plan and test disaster recovery processes and assist in incident response and log analysis
- Partner with InfoSec teams, translating technical security requirements into clear, actionable guidance for product and engineering squads
Requirements
- Strong experience writing and reviewing production backend code (Python required; working knowledge of REST APIs, database queries, and web application architecture)
- Proven ability to identify code-level vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10, SQL injection, broken authentication, insecure API endpoints) during code reviews
- Practical experience writing and deploying tooling or services into AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Hands-on automation skills using Python, Bash, or PowerShell, alongside working knowledge of IaC and pipeline security checks
- Comfortable operating in continuous delivery environments with high-frequency deployments
- Exceptional communication skills—able to act as a security evangelism partner rather than enforcing strict gatekeeping
- Hands-on experience with the APIs of major AI models (e.g., OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude) is a strong plus
