We are looking for a Senior Backend Infrastructure Engineer to build and operate critical backend infrastructure for service discovery, traffic management, and service-to-service authentication in a large-scale production environment.
Location: Stockholm
Duration - 9-10 months + extensions
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend infrastructure and distributed systems using Java.
- Work with gRPC, Kubernetes/GKE, service discovery, load balancing, and failure handling.
- Implement traffic-management capabilities including zone-aware routing, regional failover, and capacity-aware spillover.
- Improve observability, metrics, troubleshooting, and production reliability.
- Plan and execute large-scale migrations with safe validation and rollback strategies.
- Lead design reviews and contribute to architectural decisions.
Key Requirements
- 5+ years of backend or infrastructure engineering experience.
- Strong Java experience building and operating production services/shared libraries.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems.
- Production experience with GCP and Kubernetes/GKE.
- Hands-on gRPC and Kubernetes experience.
- Strong debugging and performance optimisation skills.
- Experience safely rolling out infrastructure changes across multiple services/teams.
- Strong English communication skills.
