Python Engineer

Emagine is seeking a Python Engineer to join a collaborative and dynamic project environment in Porto, Portugal. This is an opportunity for a highly experienced Python professional with strong technical leadership and architecture expertise to contribute to large-scale software engineering initiatives.

What You'll Be Working On

• Define technical direction and contribute to architecture decisions aligned with organisational strategy.

• Drive the adoption of software engineering best practices, technologies, programming languages, and version control systems.

• Lead the design and development of large-scale software solutions using Python.

• Provide technical guidance on debugging, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and software quality.

• Define and promote testing strategies and QA best practices across multiple teams.

• Drive the integration of security throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Optimise applications for performance, reliability, and observability.

• Establish and improve DevOps, CI/CD, build, and deployment practices.

• Support software operating in production environments and lead complex technical problem-solving.

• Promote Agile methodologies and continuous improvement across multiple teams.

• Communicate complex technical concepts effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

• 15+ years of professional experience as a Python Engineer.

• Proven experience working at Principal level on large-scale projects.

• Expert knowledge of Python and software development best practices.

• Strong experience in technical design and software architecture.

• Extensive experience with debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation.

• Strong knowledge of testing methodologies and quality assurance practices.

• Experience integrating security into the software development lifecycle.

• Strong understanding of observability, reliability, and production environments.

• Extensive experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and build and deployment processes.

• Strong experience supporting and operating software in production.

• Proven ability to provide technical direction across multiple teams.

• Strong Agile methodology experience and a focus on continuous improvement.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Professional fluency in English.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Azure.

• Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).

• Experience with Terraform.

• Experience working with cloud-native architectures.

• Experience driving technical standards and best practices across multiple teams.

Location & Eligibility

• Candidates must be based in Portugal.

• Onsite working model - work location: Porto.

• Long-term project with a duration of 12+ months.
