HIKE HEALTH is hiring a Senior Health Developer to build the healthcare data, cloud, interoperability, and AI infrastructure behind our products and services.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who can bridge healthcare workflows with modern technology. You will help design and deliver secure, scalable systems that connect healthcare data, automate operational processes, support analytics, and enable practical AI-powered workflows.
The ideal candidate has experience working with healthcare data and systems, is comfortable building in cloud environments, and understands how to make complex integrations reliable, secure, and usable.
What you’ll do
- Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable cloud-based applications, services, and data platforms for healthcare use cases.
- Develop healthcare data ingestion, transformation, integration, and orchestration pipelines.
- Build and optimize data warehouses, lakehouses, and analytics-ready data models for clinical, operational, and business data.
- Integrate data from EHRs, payer systems, provider systems, APIs, flat files, databases, and other healthcare or enterprise platforms.
- Build data transformation, normalization, validation, and quality-control processes that make healthcare data reliable and actionable.
- Develop and support interoperability integrations, including FHIR APIs, HL7 v2 interfaces, and other healthcare data-exchange patterns.
- Implement and maintain identity, access, authentication, authorization, and security controls across applications, data platforms, and integrations.
- Build AI infrastructure and workflow-automation capabilities using platforms such as Amazon Bedrock, Microsoft Foundry, or comparable tools.
- Help deploy AI-enabled applications, agents, retrieval workflows, and operational automations that safely connect to healthcare and business data.
- Partner with product, clinical, operations, and business teams to translate real-world workflow challenges into practical technical solutions.
- Establish strong engineering practices around testing, documentation, observability, CI/CD, data governance, privacy, and reliability.
- Contribute to the technical architecture and engineering standards that will support HIKE HEALTH’s growth.
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software, data, platform, or integration engineering experience.
- Experience working in healthcare, health IT, payer, provider, life sciences, clinical technology, or another regulated healthcare-data environment.
- Strong cloud experience in AWS, Azure, GCP, or comparable cloud platforms.
- Experience building or maintaining modern data infrastructure, including data warehouses, data lakes, lakehouses, ETL/ELT pipelines, and analytics platforms.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases and large-scale datasets.
- Experience with data integration, APIs, workflow orchestration, event-driven architectures, batch pipelines, or service-to-service systems.
- Experience with identity and access security, including authentication, authorization, role-based access control, secrets management, and secure API or service integration.
- Experience with Python, TypeScript, Java, C#, Scala, or another modern programming language.
- Familiarity with AI infrastructure, AI-enabled workflow automation, enterprise AI platforms, or integration of generative AI into production business processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to operate independently, make sound technical decisions, and collaborate effectively in a fast-moving environment.
Preferred qualifications
- Based in or near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, or New Jersey.
- Experience with FHIR resources, APIs, profiles, implementation guides, and healthcare interoperability workflows.
- Experience with HL7 v2 messages and interfaces, including ADT, ORM, ORU, SIU, or similar message types.
- Experience integrating with EHRs, payer platforms, clinical systems, labs, pharmacies, care-management platforms, or other healthcare technology environments.
- Experience with healthcare data transformation, normalization, terminology mapping, validation, and data quality.
- Familiarity with HIPAA-aligned security practices, PHI handling, audit logging, encryption, access control, and healthcare data governance.
- Experience with Amazon Bedrock, Microsoft Foundry, Azure AI, AWS AI services, LLM applications, RAG workflows, agentic workflows, or AI evaluation and monitoring.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, Terraform, CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud observability tooling.
- Experience working in an early-stage company, venture studio, consulting environment, or high-growth technology organization.
What we’re looking for
You may be a strong fit if you are excited by difficult, real-world healthcare problems and want to build systems that make healthcare data more connected, accessible, secure, and useful.
You should be comfortable moving between architecture discussions and hands-on implementation. One day may involve mapping an HL7 message or FHIR resource to a normalized data model; the next may involve designing a cloud pipeline, securing an API, improving a warehouse model, or integrating an AI workflow into an operational process.
We value builders who are pragmatic, curious, accountable, and thoughtful about the responsibility that comes with working with healthcare data.
