Software Engineer

Software Engineer (Java / AWS), Customer Contact Platform

12-month contract | €100 per hour | 40 hours per week

Location: Amsterdam, hybrid with 2 office days per week (minimum 1 day with the team)

Our client is replacing its legacy customer contact systems with a single, unified contact centre platform built on Amazon Connect.

The platform brings together voice, chat, email and other customer channels, and it's already live in parts of the business. This is a long-running, multi-year programme, and you'll be helping extend it to new business areas.

You'll be integrating the platform with a range of internal systems, handling security and privacy requirements, and supporting reporting and data exports.

You'll join an established engineering group with strong domain knowledge, so you'll have support while you get up to speed.

What you'll do

• Build and ship well-tested, maintainable software on AWS
• Integrate new business areas and data sources into the platform
• Own your services end to end: deployment, monitoring, metrics and documentation
• Resolve live production issues and contribute to root cause analysis and postmortems
• Work with colleagues across roles to design, prioritise and estimate technical work
• Contribute to architecture discussions, weighing cost, requirements and future needs
• Take part in an on-call rotation if required

What you'll bring

• Strong commercial Java experience
• Hands-on AWS experience, specifically Lambda, S3 and event-driven architectures. The project is AWS-only, so experience on other clouds alone won't be enough
• A solid approach to quality, including test automation and refactoring
• Awareness of security, data privacy and integrity best practices
• Clear communication and a collaborative approach in a multi-stakeholder environment

Nice to have

• SRE experience
• Amazon Connect experience (general AWS experience or certification is enough)
• Contact centre or customer service technology background
