Software Engineering Manager

Job Description:

• Provide leadership and technical expertise within the engineering vertical
• Build and lead one or more teams delivering software while adhering to and contributing to engineering best practices
• Clarify technical requirements, negotiate priorities, and manage projects to deliver on time by leading daily scrum activities
• Clear or escalate blockers to accelerate delivery progress
• Work with product and design partners to create an ambitious, achievable roadmap for executives and stakeholders
• Drive reliable, predictable team execution through clear objectives, data and KPIs, transparency, and continuous improvement
• Provide KPIs, status, and metrics updates to executives and key stakeholders
• Determine where to simplify, optimize, or extend solutions for the best outcomes
• Recruit, assess, and onboard a diverse group of engineers
• Lead engineering for Fanatics App products, including free-to-play games, live events, ecommerce, and new sports-platform experiences

Requirements:

• 1+ years of experience managing an engineering team
• 4+ years of experience building highly scalable and fault tolerant systems
• Knowledge of a broad range of design approaches and ability to deconstruct an architecture for development by different teams
• Ability to scope projects with targeted dates to meet business needs
• Ability to identify essential, triageable, or omittable features and negotiate with Product Management
• Ability to communicate complex technical subjects to engineers, technical leaders, marketing and operations teams, and non-technical functional leaders
• Familiarity with Agile software product delivery and SCRUM methodology
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Solid report writing skills and ability to gather, evaluate, analyze, and logically structure information
• Ability to work in an entrepreneurial, hyper-growth environment with evolving priorities and rapid decisions
• Team-first mentality and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done
• Ability to work cross-functionally within an enterprise environment
• Preferred: experience working in a start-up environment
• Preferred: strong mobile software engineering background
• Preferred: experience with Kotlin Multiplatform and/or Compose Multiplatform
