Employment Type: Full-time
Location: Richmond, British Columbia, Canada
Reports to: Director of Engineering
Level: Based on experience; senior engineers may be considered.
*Position Overview*
We are seeking an RF Engineer with experience in RF and analog integrated circuit design to contribute to the development of broadband RF chips and millimeter-wave products.
The role will involve circuit design, simulation, layout collaboration, tapeout verification, and prototype chip testing and debugging, supporting products for satellite communications and 5G/6G applications.
*Key Responsibilities*
· Define technical specifications and design approaches for assigned circuit blocks based on system requirements.
· Design and optimize RF or analog circuits, such as LNAs, PAs, mixers, VCOs, PLLs, RF switches, and related blocks. Assignments will depend on project needs and individual expertise.
· Perform circuit simulations to evaluate gain, noise, linearity, power consumption, bandwidth, stability, and other key performance metrics.
· Analyze process, voltage, and temperature variations and device mismatch to verify performance under different conditions.
· Collaborate with layout engineers to address matching, isolation, parasitic effects, power distribution, and grounding.
· Perform post-layout simulations and, as needed, electromagnetic simulations of passive structures and interconnects.
· Participate in design reviews, chip integration, and pre-tapeout verification, and maintain design files and verification records.
· Work with test and applications engineers to develop measurement plans and participate in prototype testing and debugging.
· Compare simulated and measured results, diagnose issues, and propose improvements for the next chip revision.
· Prepare design documentation, simulation reports, and test analysis reports, and follow company requirements for managing design information.
*Required Qualifications*
· A master?s degree or higher in Microelectronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. Candidates with a bachelor?s degree and extensive relevant experience may also be considered.
· Typically at least three years of RFIC or analog integrated circuit design experience.
· Experience and understanding of CMOS RF SOI technology.
· Familiarity with III-Vs SiGe, GaAs or GaN processes and their design flow.
· Proficiency in Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/SpectreRF, or equivalent design tools.
· Proficiency with Corner and Monte-Carleton statistical verification.
· Strong understanding of RF circuit fundamentals, including impedance matching, noise, linearity, stability, and frequency synthesis.
· Familiarity with DRC, LVS, parasitic extraction, and post-layout simulation workflows.
· Strong analytical, design documentation, and teamwork skills.
· Strong ability to identify problems, analyze root causes, and develop effective solutions, with a proactive approach to resolving design and testing issues.
· Ability to read technical documentation and communicate effectively in English.
*Preferred Qualifications*
· Experience designing millimeter-wave, broadband transceiver, or X, Ku/Ka-band circuits.
· Specialized design experience with PLLs, VCOs, LNAs, PAs, or mixers.
· Familiarity with ADS, EMX, HFSS, or other RF and electromagnetic simulation tools.
· Experience with a complete tapeout cycle and chip measurements.
· Understanding of the effects of packaging, evaluation boards, and test fixtures on RF performance.
· Familiarity with scripting tools such as Python, MATLAB, or SKILL.
· Ability to communicate professionally in Mandarin Chinese.
*Expected Outcomes*
Complete the design and verification of assigned circuit blocks, meet agreed technical specifications, produce comprehensive and reviewable design documentation, and use prototype test results to drive continuous improvements in pro
