You will join our Document Generation team in the Document Lifecycle Management program. The team generates and archives documents across BEC and is replacing legacy document-generation and archiving solutions with a modern SaaS platform.
The Java software engineer role offers the opportunity to build modern Java services, integrate a commercial SaaS archive with mainframe and distributed systems, and shape a major modernization initiative. The team collaborates across Warsaw and Roskilde, and your direct manager will be Kamil Zych.
Primary task and responsibilities include:
- Design and build APIs and microservices in Java 21 and newer with Spring Boot, REST, and Maven, containerized on OpenShift/Kubernetes.
- Develop event-driven components using Kafka and follow microservice and EDA best practices.
- Integrate a commercial SaaS archiving solution with existing BEC systems across mainframe and distributed applications.
- Collaborate in an agile team: share knowledge, participate in code reviews, and work with Jira, Git, ServiceNow and Confluence.
- Work closely with business architects and stakeholders in the Documents Cluster to deliver reliable, secure solutions.
- Occasional travel to Roskilde, Denmark to meet teammates and stakeholders.
To succeed you will have:
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience with modern Java, REST, Spring Boot, and Maven.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience with Kafka, event-driven architecture, and microservices.
- Familiarity with integrating COTS/SaaS solutions into complex enterprise environments (mainframe and distributed).
- Comfort with Jira, Git, and Confluence or Wiki-based documentation.
- An agile mindset, including translating feature descriptions into user stories and iterative delivery.
- A positive and supportive, cooperative approach; ability to work independently and as part of a team, taking ownership and involving the right colleagues.
- Fluent English (written and spoken).
It’s nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of the financial sector (nice to have)
- Experience with OpenShift/Kubernetes operations and observability.
- Background in document archiving systems or document management platforms.
- Exposure to modernization projects (e.g., migrating legacy Java/EJB/JSP applications).
