Location: Kraków (hybrid, 6 office visits/month)
What You’ll Do
- Own and optimize CDN configurations: caching strategy, request routing, origin failover, and performance tuning
- Design and implement end-to-end changes for CDN delivery
- Manage WAF policies: rule design, tuning, false-positive triage, and protection updates
- Respond to live attack traffic alongside cybersecurity teams
- Run DNS and global traffic management: regional routing, load balancing, and origin failover
- Maintain TLS certificates and secure delivery standards at the edge
- Configure and troubleshoot Azure networking: Application Gateway, load balancers, NSGs, DNS, and traffic routing
- Lead technical investigations for performance and availability issues
- Trace requests from browser to origin using logs, monitoring, and diagnostic tools
- Act as senior technical escalation during incidents and drive root cause analysis
- Review changes and designs from other engineers
- Share CDN and edge knowledge across the team
- Keep documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles accurate and useful
Requirements
- 6–8 years of hands-on experience in edge infrastructure, CDN, and WAF
- Deep, current hands-on experience running Akamai in production at scale
- Hands-on experience operating Akamai WAF (App & API Protector or Kona)
- Strong understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, DNS, caching behavior, headers, and the full request path
- Ability to debug using HAR files, curl output, or edge logs
- Solid Azure networking experience: application gateways, load balancers, NSGs, DNS, and traffic routing
- Proven ability to diagnose complex production issues across edge, network, and application layers
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation and explain edge behavior
- Experience with bot management and DDoS mitigation
- Experience operating in regulated environments with security and operational risk controls
- Multi-CDN experience (e.g., CloudFront, Cloudflare, Tencent) or CDN migrations
- Terraform (Akamai provider) and CI/CD pipeline experience
- Experience managing configurations through APIs or infrastructure as code
