Acumen is looking for an experienced Interim Automation Engineer to support a transformation project.
We need a hands-on professional who can bridge the gap between automation engineering and shop floor operations, turning technical solutions into measurable improvements in production performance.
Your Mission
- Assess existing shop floor automation systems and identify improvement opportunities.
- Design, integrate and optimise industrial automation solutions.
- Work with PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, robotics and industrial control systems.
- Support equipment integration, commissioning and troubleshooting.
- Improve productivity, OEE, equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate directly with production, maintenance and engineering teams.
- Drive implementation and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience in industrial automation and manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens, Rockwell or equivalent).
- Experience integrating robotic systems, sensors and industrial equipment.
- Familiarity with Industry 4.0, MES and OT/IT integration.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, results-driven mindset.
- Ability to work independently and deliver results in demanding industrial environments.
This is not a desk engineering role. We are looking for someone comfortable on the factory floor, working alongside operators and technicians, solving real production challenges.
