DevOps Engineer

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to build and improve secure, scalable engineering platforms and continuous delivery capabilities. You will combine hands-on Kubernetes and OpenShift engineering with infrastructure as code, developer enablement and strong observability practices.

Location: Manchester, UK

Basis: 12-month fixed term contract

Key Responsibilities

• Engineer, operate and improve Kubernetes and OpenShift platforms.

• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform.

• Support developer enablement through Backstage and internal developer platform capabilities. • Design and enhance continuous delivery pipelines and deployment automation.

• Implement observability using metrics, telemetry and service-level objectives.

• Automate operational runbooks and repeatable platform processes.

• Apply platform engineering and control engineering principles to improve reliability and governance.

• Collaborate with UK and offshore engineering teams to deliver consistent platform outcomes.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong Kubernetes and OpenShift engineering experience.

• Hands-on Terraform expertise.

• Experience with Backstage or internal developer platforms.

• Strong continuous delivery and deployment automation knowledge.

• Practical observability experience, including metrics, telemetry and SLOs.

• Experience automating operational runbooks.

• Understanding of platform engineering and control engineering.
