Staff Software Engineer

Join AlphaSense, a leading AI-driven market intelligence platform. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will own the Excel plugin strategy, bringing AI-powered market intelligence directly into the workflow of financial professionals. You will create seamless experiences for users, impacting how financial institutions make critical decisions. You will also establish the technical foundation for our Office integration strategy and mentor a team of engineers.

- Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, state management, and event-driven architectures
- Experience with enterprise software deployment, updates, and version management
- Track record of building performant applications with excellent error handling and recovery
- 10+ years building and operating large scale production systems
- Deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern development practices
- Ability to mentor teams and establish development best practices
- Excellence in debugging complex integration issues and memory/performance optimization
- Enterprise authentication (SSO, OAuth, SAML)

- TypeScript, React, and modern frontend tooling
- Complex state management between local and cloud data
- Technical Environment:
- Office JavaScript API / Office Add-ins framework
- Cross-platform support (Windows and Mac)
- Understanding of financial modeling, data analysis workflows, or trading systems
- Production experience with Office JavaScript API, VSTO, or COM add-ins
- Knowledge of Excel's calculation engine, object model, and common power-user patterns
- Background in building offline-capable applications with sync mechanisms
- Experience with WebSocket, real-time data feeds, or streaming architectures
- Experience with React/TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks
