We’re partnering with a leading French luxury retail group going through a major transformation of its data estate. They’re moving away from legacy workloads and rebuilding their data platform around Azure Databricks - and they’re looking for an experienced freelance Databricks Data Engineer to help make it happen for a 6-month initial contract.
This isn’t a maintenance contract. You’ll be hands-on with the migration, helping shape how the new platform is built and solving the engineering challenges that come with moving complex, business-critical data onto a modern Lakehouse architecture.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Migrating complex legacy workloads onto Azure Databricks.
- Designing and building scalable pipelines using Python and PySpark.
- Building reliable batch and near real-time workloads with Delta Lake.
- Helping define the architecture, engineering standards and best practices for the new platform.
- Connecting Databricks across Azure Data Factory, ADLS Gen2 and Synapse.
- Optimising Spark jobs and clusters for performance, reliability and cost.
- Improving data quality, testing and monitoring across the platform.
- Contributing to CI/CD and improving how data workloads move into production.
- Working directly with Data Analysts, Data Scientists and business teams to turn real requirements into scalable solutions.
What We’re Looking For:
- 6+ years of Data Engineering experience
- Strong production experience with Databricks
- Proven experience delivering data migrations or platform transformations
- Strong Azure experience
- Advanced Python and PySpark
- Strong understanding of Delta Lake and Lakehouse architecture
- Solid SQL skills
- Experience with ADF, ADLS Gen2 and/or Azure Synapse
If this sounds like you, please apply with your latest CV and we will be in touch to discuss the role further.
