Barden is delighted to partner with a fast-growing software company as they look to hire a Senior Software Engineer for their Data Platform team in Cork.
This platform will hold all of the company's data. Existing products are moving onto it now, and new AI and reporting products will be built on it from the start. You will build the services and interfaces every product will run on, as volumes grow from a few million rows a month to more than 100 million rows a day. You do not need a data engineering background. You do need solid production backend experience and a strong focus on getting the data right.

ABOUT THE ROLE
- Build event-driven ingestion services that deliver exactly-once results, even when messages are retried, duplicated or arrive out of order.
- Design versioned APIs, SDKs and data feeds that are safe to evolve without breaking downstream consumers.
- Build point-in-time history and exact decimal precision into the platform.
- Scale services by orders of magnitude while keeping performance strong and costs under control.
- Build self-service tooling to onboard new products and customers in days, not months.
- Build within a secure multi-tenant model, ensuring customer data remains properly isolated.
- Own SLOs, alerting and incident response for the services you ship, and fix underlying causes when things go wrong.
ABOUT THE PERSON
- 5+ years building, deploying and running backend services in production.
- Strong Python, C#/.NET, Java or a similar backend language.
- Experience with distributed or event-driven systems, including microservices, idempotency, ordering, retries and failure handling.
- Experience evolving APIs and schemas without breaking consumers.
- Strong SQL and a working knowledge of how cloud data warehouses execute and cost queries.
- Experience with payments, billing, ledgers or other systems where data accuracy and auditability matter would be a plus.
