Join MISUMI Americas as a Senior Software Engineer, where you'll be part of a team that drives costing, pricing, lead time, and design for manufacturability for our instant quoting platform. You'll design and develop highly available, scalable backend services in AWS, build and maintain event-driven systems using Node.js, and create robust APIs. You'll also partner closely with product, frontend, and infrastructure teams, contribute to technical design discussions, and help shape how the team works with AI.

- We build with AI agents as a core part of how we work. We're looking for strong engineers who use agents to plan, implement, and test faster, and who have the judgment to know when the output is wrong
- 5 + years of backend engineering experience
- Knowledge of system design, caching, and security best practices (OWASP Top 10)
- Solid understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures
- Strong code review skills, applied just as rigorously to AI-generated changes
- Strong skills in Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript
- Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases
- A commitment to writing unit and integration tests
- Experience building systems on AWS (SQS, Lambda, EC2, RDS, etc.)
- Experience designing and maintaining REST or GraphQL APIs
- Hands-on experience shipping production code with AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot agent mode), with clear examples of where you had to step in, correct, or override them
- You stay curious and keep learning new technologies and patterns
- You treat AI as a force multiplier, not a substitute for understanding the system
- You enjoy mentoring others and raising the bar for engineering excellence
- You solve problems proactively, even outside your immediate scope
- You communicate clearly and collaborate across teams
- You take ownership and ship clean, maintainable, production-ready code
