Junior Backend Engineer

Join Kalepa as a Junior Backend Engineer, where you'll work on impactful projects at the intersection of software engineering and applied AI. You'll contribute to backend services, data and ML pipelines, and collaborate closely with experienced engineers. This is a hands-on engineering role with ownership of features end to end.

- Have approximately 1 year of professional software engineering experience building and shipping production systems
- Have a degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Appreciate direct feedback, meritocracy, and transparency
- Have strong fundamentals in at least one programming language and know Python
- Move fast, learn quickly, and value high standards
- Are curious about AI, data, and real-world applications of machine learning
- Take ownership and are comfortable working with ambiguity
- Enjoy writing code and solving non-trivial technical problems
