About The Role
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Principal / Senior Principal Systems Engineer - Data Analyst to join our engineering analytics and tools development team. This individual contributor role involves working closely with data analytics leads and cross-functional teams to translate complex engineering and business questions into actionable data-driven solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing scalable data processing and visualization tools that support decision-making processes across multiple projects. The position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge systems that influence national security and aerospace advancements. The role can be filled at a level 3 or level 4, depending on experience and qualifications.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in STEM disciplines with relevant professional experience in systems engineering, data analytics, data engineering, or data science. For Principal Systems Engineer level 3, a bachelor’s degree with at least five years of related experience, or a master’s degree with three years, or a Ph.D. with one year of experience is required. For Senior Principal Systems Engineer level 4, candidates should have a bachelor’s degree with at least eight years of experience, or a master’s degree with six years, or a Ph.D. with four years of experience. Proficiency in Python, SQL, relational database design, and working with large data pipelines (ETL) is essential. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical skills, experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance, with a preference for active SAP clearance.
Responsibilities
- Engage with technical and programmatic teams to understand their data and analytical needs, translating these into clear requirements for data processing and visualization.
- Architect and develop modular, scalable data processing and analytics tools, adhering to established coding standards and version control practices.
- Design and implement end-to-end data solutions, including data ingestion, parsing, relational data modeling, analytics, and reporting.
- Create intuitive user interfaces that enable users to interact with data efficiently and accurately.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, outliers, and anomalies within engineering and business datasets. Communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with data analytics teams to optimize data pipelines and improve analytical workflows.
- Support continuous integration and deployment processes, ensuring data solutions are robust and maintainable across different environments.
