Freelance Cloud Native / Platform Engineer
16–24 hours per week | Remote | Initial 6 months
We are looking for an experienced freelance Cloud Native / Platform Engineer to support the further development of a highly automated cloud platform.
The platform is designed to deploy data services fully automatically. A central environment determines the configuration, after which ArgoCD and Argo Workflows handle the deployment process. The goal is a fully declarative setup: from configuration to running service, without manual steps in between.
Responsibilities
- Build and improve cloud-native platform components and automation
- Develop scalable and declarative deployment workflows
- Work extensively with Kubernetes and Docker
- Build and maintain automation and tooling in Python
- Work with ArgoCD, Argo Workflows and GitOps principles
- Improve CI/CD processes using GitHub Actions
- Contribute to technical choices, platform design and automation standards
- Help ensure a secure, stable and maintainable platform environment
Required experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker
- Strong Python skills
- Experience with ArgoCD and GitOps
- Experience with CI/CD and GitHub Actions
- Strong understanding of cloud-native and declarative infrastructure
- Comfortable working independently in a small technical team
- Proactive, pragmatic and solution-oriented mindset
Nice to have
- Experience with Argo Workflows
- Platform engineering / internal developer platform experience
- Security / Kubernetes hardening experience
- Experience with open-source technologies
- Experience with data platforms or data services
Project details
- 16–24 hours per week
- Fully remote
- Daily stand-up on Tuesday and Thursday, 09:30–10:00
- Initial duration: 6 months
- Good possibility of extension
- Start: as soon as possible
- Dutch-speaking and based in the Netherlands
