DevOps Engineer – Intermediate – Contract
Intellect is supporting a contractor with the recruitment of an experienced Intermediate DevOps Engineer for a public-sector technology environment in Dublin.
Contract Details
- Contract Duration: 8 months
- Extension: Up to a further 8 months
- Maximum Extensions: 1
- Start Date: Mid-November 2026
- Location: Dublin 1
- Working Pattern: Full-time
- Hours: 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday, between 09:00 and 18:00, excluding lunch/rest periods and Irish public holidays
- Expected Annual Commitment: Approximately 154 days / 31 weeks, or equivalent depending on the final contract duration
Occasionally, the successful contractor may be required to provide services outside normal office hours. These instances are not expected to be regular but the successful candidate must be able to accommodate such requirements where necessary.
Mandatory Requirements
- Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:Experience: Intermediate-level professional with approximately 4–6 years of substantial experience in DevOps / cloud engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
- Availability: Must be available to commence mid-November 2026.
- Qualification: A degree in ICT or equivalent qualification.
- English: Fluent English is mandatory. Candidates whose first language is not English must hold CEFR C2 Mastery or Proficiency certification.
- Proven experience working independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary ICT teams.
- Proven experience contributing to significant technical projects in a professional environment.
Role Overview
The successful DevOps Engineer will support the delivery of cloud, DevOps, security and automation initiatives within a public-sector ICT environment.
The role will focus heavily on Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, cloud security, Infrastructure as Code and secure production deployments, while also supporting remediation of security findings, technical documentation and knowledge transfer to internal ICT teams.
This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced DevOps professional who can work independently while collaborating closely with infrastructure, application, cybersecurity and external technology teams.
Key Deliverables
The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of:
Security & Penetration Testing
- Develop and implement remediation plans arising from penetration testing.
- Provide evidence supporting the closure of security findings.
- Support remediation of application and cloud security vulnerabilities.
- Improve security controls and governance across the Azure environment.
Microsoft Azure
- Assess and improve the existing
Azure landing zone.
- Implement agreed landing-zone components.
- Support Azure governance and security improvements.
- Assist with Azure identity, access and security controls.
DevOps & CI/CD
- Design, develop and maintain
CI/CD pipelines.
- Improve automated application build and deployment processes.
- Support secure and repeatable production deployments.
- Improve deployment automation and release management.
Production Deployment & Case Management
- Support controlled production deployment capability.
- Develop and maintain deployment and rollback runbooks.
- Ensure production releases are secure, repeatable and appropriately documented.
Infrastructure as Code & Automation
Infrastructure as Code solutions.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration.
- Improve repeatability and efficiency of Azure deployments.
Monitoring & Troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot complex issues across Azure environments, applications and deployments.
- Support monitoring, logging and operational resilience.
- Identify and resolve technical issues affecting production services.
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
- Produce technical architecture and configuration documentation.
- Develop deployment and rollback documentation.
- Deliver knowledge-transfer sessions to internal ICT teams.
- Support effective technical handover at the conclusion of the engagement.
