- Explain technical concepts clearly, demonstrate progress and manage expectations.
- Provide practical training, documentation and support to encourage adoption.
- Work with the wider IT team to ensure solutions are secure, maintainable and compatible with existing systems.
- Handle confidential information and personal data responsibly.
Experience and skills
- Practical experience in AI engineering, software development or a closely related role.
- Strong Python skills and experience integrating APIs and working with databases.
- Experience building applications using large language models, including prompt design, structured outputs and model evaluation.
- An understanding of retrieval augmented generation, embeddings and vector databases.
- Experience with Git, testing, debugging and deploying applications.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
- An understanding of data quality, access controls and secure development.
- The ability to take a solution from initial requirements through to delivery and user adoption.
- Strong communication skills, patience and confidence working with colleagues from non-technical backgrounds.
- A relevant qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Desirable experience
- Workflow automation and integration with business systems.
- Microsoft 365, SharePoint or Power Automate.
- Building straightforward user interfaces using JavaScript, TypeScript or React.
- Delivering projects in an operational, logistics or service environment.
