Role Overview
We are looking for a BI Developer to join a data and analytics team that turns well-governed data into reporting, dashboards and data assets used across the business. The role works closely with data architects and analytics engineers and is focused on building reporting solutions end to end.
It is a great fit for an experienced, independent developer who enjoys owning the full reporting cycle. You will work mainly with SQL and Python in Google Cloud (BigQuery) or Microsoft SQL Server, taking a business question from the first conversation with stakeholders, through data modelling and pipelines, to a dashboard people rely on every day.
Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver reporting solutions in Google Cloud (BigQuery) or Microsoft SQL Server, using SQL, T-SQL and Python
- Build and maintain dashboards in Looker Studio that business users can trust
- Develop data flows that source, ingest, integrate and refine data from different systems, including matching and linking datasets
- Create and document conceptual, logical and physical data models and keep them consistent as the solution grows
- Improve query performance and set up data quality checks, monitoring and alerting for reporting flows
- Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and process logic, and turn them into technical solutions
- Resolve data issues and bugs, deliver ad-hoc analysis and suggest process improvements
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and smaller projects, keep track of progress and document processes
Requirements:
- 5+ years of commercial experience as a BI Developer, Reporting Developer or Data Engineer focused on reporting
- Strong SQL skills: T-SQL or BigQuery SQL
- Experience with Google Cloud, especially BigQuery, or with Microsoft SQL Server as the main data platform
- Python for data processing and automation
- Experience building dashboards in Looker Studio or Qlik Sense
- Good understanding of data modelling, data warehousing and ETL / data integration
- Ability to work directly with business stakeholders and translate their needs into working solutions
- Experience with Alteryx, Collibra, PowerApps or C# is a plus
