About the Role
This is a contractor position through X-Team. We are is seeking a Software Engineer on behalf of a leading telecommunications provider. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions that power customer, internal, and wholesale platforms. Working collaboratively across the software development lifecycle, you will deliver scalable, reliable, and innovative solutions that enhance customer experiences and improve business efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Build end-to-end solutions across internal tools, customer-facing websites, and mobile applications utilizing modern PHP development practices and MVC frameworks.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integrations to support system interoperability.
- Automate business processes to improve operational efficiency and user experience.
- Contribute to sprint planning, estimation, development, testing, and deployment activities.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code aligned with engineering standards and participate in code reviews.
- Identify and resolve technical, performance, and architectural challenges.
Must Have
- Core Experience: 3+ years of commercial experience developing software applications using PHP and modern MVC frameworks.
- Frontend Technologies: Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
- API & Integration: Experience building and integrating RESTful APIs and web services.
- Database & Architecture: Strong knowledge of relational databases, schema design, and query optimization.
- Development Practices: Experience with modern software development practices, including version control (Git).
- Soft Skills & Adaptability: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Logistics: Must be based offshore with a 4-6 hour daily overlap with Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST).
Nice to Have
- Experience with Laravel is highly regarded.
- Exposure to Python development, including building scalable applications, APIs, automation solutions, and data processing workflows.
- Experience setting up or maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Background in iOS and Android app development.
- An understanding of the telecommunications (telco) industry.
- Ability to design and implement complex software solutions and a willingness for self-directed learning.
