About The Role
Northrop Grumman's Space Systems Sector is seeking an experienced Principal or Senior Principal DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on mission-critical systems supporting national security and space exploration initiatives. The position can be based in Aurora, CO, Morrisville, NC, or Sacramento, CA. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining automation processes, infrastructure, and deployment pipelines that enable rapid capability maturation and deployment. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, innovative thinking, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver robust DevOps solutions aligned with organizational goals.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate must possess an active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI access. An active CI Polygraph is also required at the time of application. U.S. citizenship is mandatory. Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience for Principal level or 8 years for Senior Principal, with additional experience in lieu of a degree if applicable. Proficiency in AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform is essential. Candidates should have experience with Linux or related operating systems and a background in Agile software development frameworks. Security+ certification is preferred but not required at the start; however, it must be obtained within six months of employment. Additional preferred qualifications include experience with Jenkins, GitLab, Bamboo, Flux, Helm, DynamoDB, NATS, Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, and other cloud-native tools.
Responsibilities
- Plan and evolve processes and infrastructure to support rapid program capability maturation and deployment.
- Integrate development pipelines leveraging automation, test-driven development tools, and continuous integration/test frameworks.
- Define and implement standards for build, deployment, provisioning, and monitoring activities.
- Ensure implementation of Software Configuration Management (SCM), code quality, and automated testing within CI/CD pipelines.
- Collaborate with Agile development teams to deliver end-to-end automation of deployment, monitoring, and infrastructure management frameworks.
- Build and configure delivery environments supporting CI/CD tools using Agile methodologies.
- Create scripts and templates to automate infrastructure provisioning and management tasks.
- Work closely with development teams to establish automated CI/CD systems.
- Coordinate with vendors and IT personnel to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Monitor and support all installed systems and infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Develop custom scripts to improve system efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Contribute to the design of operational support systems and information management solutions.
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
- Oversee security strategies, backup procedures, and redundancy plans to safeguard critical systems.
- Evaluate application performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements in collaboration with developers.
